About The Photographer
David Calderin
I began taking photographs in 1981 after purchasing my first camera, a Minolta X-700. My love for photography began after I captured a candid photograph of my grandmother washing dishes in her apartment in the Bronx, New York.
Although I was lucky to get the result I did in that photograph, it inspired me. From that moment forward, I became determined to capture on film what I saw with my eyes. I became a student of manual photography, focused on learning the principles of the camera, its functions, its abilities, and the way it works with light.
I went to school and earned my degree with a major in photography. I began by photographing anything and everything throughout New York City. In 1987, I relocated to Miami, where I continued refining and mastering the art.
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to travel to every state in the United States, as well as several countries abroad. Visiting the National Parks has been a true gift, allowing me to capture landscapes and wildlife images that I find breathtaking.
Although I am well versed in Photoshop, I use it only as a tool to bring the final image closer to what I envisioned when I took the photograph.
It has always been my vision to share my images publicly and to create photographs that make viewers wish they were there.
